DeadMan Wonderland:

Today I got to watch the final episode of Deadman Wonderland. I am surprised I stuck with it. I didn’t expect I would, but it was addicting and so I rode that ride and enjoyed it while it lasted. Sadly we get no more and left wide open on a lot of things. Thankfully there is a manga, which I plan to read.

This anime is not for the faint of heart. It is considered a horror anime and that makes sense. It is very violent, very gory and cringe worthy. However, I found it different. At least for me. The characters are easy to get attached to and were well portrayed by some of the top voice actors in the industry. Some even surprised me. I seriously didn’t realize they were in this one. So yea for surprises.

The horror of the story truly is the innocent people imprisoned. For instance our lead, Ganta. He is only a little boy and is sent to this horrid prison. Where inmates are forced to fight and then suffer ghastly consequences if they should lose said fights. Human cock fights. Luckily the show is not focused on that aspect alone. It really is about friendship, survival and the bonds of loyalty. At least that is what I walked away with.

I won’t lie, there were moments that were like pure mind fucks and stunned me. Some of the bigger reveals and such. I don’t recommend this one for everyone. Especially if you are not into violence or gore. Despite it being animation, it is still pretty graphic. Otherwise, if you are brave, I highly recommend watching it for what you get. I will warn the ending may piss you off and leaving you wanting more. At least you can turn to the manga, but I still enjoyed the anime, nonetheless. Perhaps one day the series will continue as an anime. That would be warmly welcomed, if it does.
