Alice in Wonderland Review:

Alright, this afternoon I was finally given the opportunity to watch Tim Burton's and Disney’s adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland”. I have wanted to see this film since its release a couple of years ago and regrettably it has taken me till now to see it. I got interrupted a few times, but thank goodness I have a DVR, and was able to pause and return to it. I also ended up with scratches on my legs thanks to my lovely cat, Noel, for falling off of my lap during the movie.

Over all I thought it was a great film. I really wasn’t sure walking into it if I would like it or not. I can never tell with Tim Burton, when he makes a movie based off of a piece of work that is well known. Don’t get me wrong, I love his more original films, but with 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" going horribly wrong, in my opinion, I questioned his abilities going into this film. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. It was, in its own way, an original film. It may have been based off a well known book, still it was its own adventure. A continuation, meshed up with both “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice Through the Looking Glass”.

I thought it was whimsical and vibrant, yet still held the darkness of the tales. There was no doubt it was a Tim Burton film, his signature was written all over it, but not in a bad way, of course. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were awesome as ever. And the lovely Mia Kasikowaska as Alice. I had never heard of her before this film, but I think she was delightful and I enjoyed her performance a great deal.

I do recommend this film for many reasons. I think just about anyone could enjoy this film. I do not believe it caters to just one type of audience. So, if you have yet to see this film, I suggest you at least sit down and watch it once. I am sure not everyone will love it, but it is worth the time to give it a try. Also, it was awesome to see Crispin Glover in this film. He really has not aged all that much. Perhaps he is truly a time traveler. (wink)..lol Some of you will get this reference, others will not. Happy guessing for those who do not.
